Welcome to the detailed user guide on how to add Recipe Choices/Options such as Meal Types, Dietary Preferences, and Cuisine Types to your recipe management system. This feature is designed to enhance the searchability, and user experience of your recipe database by allowing users to filter recipes based on their preferences or dietary requirements.

Adding New Recipe Choice/Option

  • Log in to our recipe junction dashboard with your administrator credentials.
  • Navigate to the “Choices” section where you can manage recipe categories, choices, and options.

Step 1: Navigate to Recipe Choice/Option Section

Look for a tab or link labeled “Choices” and click on it to access the management area for recipe categorizations.

Step 2: Create a New Recipe Choice

Click on the “Add New Choice” button to begin the process of adding a new recipe choice or option.

Choice Name:

Field: Enter the name of the choice/option you are creating (e.g., Category, Meal Type, Dietary Restrictions, Cuisine).
Guidance: Choose a clear and descriptive name that accurately represents the category of options it will contain.

Choices/Options Order:

Field: Specify the order in which this choice/option should appear relative to other choices/options.
Guidance: Use numerical values to set the order. Lower numbers will typically appear before higher numbers, influencing how users will see and interact with these filters.

View in Filter Option?:

Field: Select whether this choice/option should be visible as a filter to users browsing recipes.
Guidance: Enable this for choices/options that are crucial for users to narrow down recipes according to their needs or preferences.

Step 3: Adding Choice Options Values

After defining the choice name, order, and visibility, it’s time to add specific values for each choice/option.

Action: Look for a section or button labeled “Choice Options”

Input Fields:

Option Value: The specific name of the option within the choice category (e.g., for Meal Type: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner; for Dietary: Vegan, Gluten-Free; for Cuisine: Italian, Mexican, Japanese).

Guidance: Be specific and inclusive, ensuring you cover a broad range of preferences and dietary needs. This makes your recipe database more accessible and user-friendly.

Step 4: Saving and Reviewing

Once you have added all necessary option values for your choice, look for the “Save” button to save your changes.

Review: After saving, review the choice/option and its values to ensure accuracy and completeness. You can edit or add more options if needed.

By following these steps and guidelines, you can effectively add and manage Recipe Choices/Options in your recipe management system, significantly improving the way users interact with your recipe database. This customization not only makes your platform more user-friendly but also helps cater to a wide range of dietary needs and culinary interests, ultimately enriching the cooking and browsing experience for all users.
